DANISH SUGAR COOKIES 
2 c. sifted all purpose flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. butter, firm from refrigerator
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift dry ingredients into bowl, cut in shortening and butter until mixture is coarse. Stir in beaten egg and vanilla. Dough is soft. Shape into balls, roll in sugar and flatten with a juice glass, dipped in sugar. Bake at 305 degrees for 12 minutes.
