SOUTHERN PECAN LADIES | |
2/3 c. shortening 1 1/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 1 1/4 c. flour 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 1 c. chopped pecans Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Sift flour, soda and salt together; add to creamed mixture. Stir in nuts. Drop dough by teaspoon 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Press one pecan half in center of each cookie. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Frost cookies, if desired. FROSTING: Combine: 1 tbsp. shortening 1 1/2 tbsp. milk 1 tbsp. molasses Blend until smooth. Makes 4 dozen cookies. |
