GRAMMIE'S RED CABBAGE 
1 med. head red cabbage
1 rounded tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. vinegar or lemon juice
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/4-1/2 c. red jelly

Remove outer leaves and stalk from cabbage, shred fine. Cover with water. Add shortening. Cover and cook until tender. Pour off water. Season to taste with remaining ingredients. Warm before serving. Improves with repeated warmings.
