FRENCH CHOCOLATE PIE | |
3 egg whites 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1 c. sugar 1 tbsp. cocoa 12 crushed soda crackers or Saltines 1/2 c. chopped nuts 1 tsp. vanilla Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff (peak forms). Gradually add sugar and cocoa mixed. Add crackers, nuts, and vanilla. Bake 30 minutes at 325 degrees in 9 inch pie pan, greased. Refrigerate 4-5 hours. To center of crust, add 1/2 pint of Cool Whip (La Creme preferred). Shave chocolate on top or add 1 teaspoon instant coffee to La Creme. Serves 6-7. Refrigerate until ready to use. |
