1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. corn syrup
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts or coconut

Add soda and buttermilk in 4 quart saucepan. Stir well; let stand 1 minute. Add sugar, syrup, and butter. Cook to soft ball stage. Add vanilla and nuts; beat until begins to thicken. Drop by teaspoons on buttered sheet.
