APPLE PIE BARS 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. butter flavor Crisco
1 egg yolk & milk

Mix flour and salt, cut in Crisco with pastry cutter. Place egg yolk in a 2/3 cup measuring cup and fill to 1/4 inch from the top with milk; mix together. Mix this with the flour until well blended and chill while preparing the filling.

FILLING:

8 apples, peeled, cored & sliced
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Combine the apples with sugar and cinnamon.

Divide the pastry mixture and roll out half and place in a 9 x 13 inch pan. Arrange apple mixture on pastry. Roll out the other half of the pastry and place on top of the apple mixture. Cut air holes in top crust. Bake at 375 degrees for 55-60 minutes.

GLAZE:

2 tbsp. butter, browned
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
Milk

Brown the butter, remove from heat and add the vanilla. Mix with the powdered sugar and add enough milk to make creamy and drizzle over the top of the bars.
