DATE NUT SMALL MUFFINS 
1 c. chopped dates
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. boiling water
1 tbsp. butter
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 tsp. salt

Pour boiling water over the dates and baking soda. Let stand until cool. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir together. Pour in small muffin tins (2/3 full). Bake at 375 degrees for 10 or 15 minutes or until done. Roll in powdered sugar if desired. (I do not do this.)
