COUNTRY FRIED CHICKEN 
1/2 c. milk
1 egg
1 c. flour
2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. paprika
2 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. sage
2 1/2 - 3 lb. chicken pieces
Crisco for frying

Blend milk and egg. Combine flour and seasonings in plastic bag. Shake chicken in the seasoned flour. Dip chicken pieces in milk-egg mixture. Shake chicken a second time in seasoning mixture to coat thoroughly and evenly.

Melt Crisco or use Crisco oil in skillet to about 1/2" to 1" deep and heat to 365 degrees. Brown chicken on all sides. Reduce heat to 275 degrees and continue cooking until chicken is tender, about 30 to 40 minutes. Do not cover. Turn chicken several times during cooking. Drain on paper toweling.
