FRIED APPLE PIES
1 pt. pie apples (thin syrup)
1/2 c. sugar
Pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg

CRUST:

2 3/4 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. oil
1/2 c. sweet milk

Drain juice into saucepan and add sugar and spices. Boil until dissolved. Add apples to cook until preserved, about 20 minutes, being careful not to burn.

Crust: Mix flour and salt. Pour oil and milk into measuring cup but do not stir. Add all at once to flour. Stir until mixed and shape into ball. Place between 2 sheets wax paper. Roll dough 1/8 inch thick and peel off top paper. Cut into circles.

Place large spoonful thick filling on each circle; fold over, seal edges with fork. Fry in 1 inch oil at 400 degrees. Turn to brown other side. Drain on paper towel.
