PINTO BEANS 
Sort and wash 1 pound dried pinto beans. Put in large kettle and cover with 6 cups water. Put in 1/4 teaspoon baking soda. Cover and let soak overnight. The next day add a few drops cooking oil and simmer slowly about 2 hours. Then season with:

1 can tomato sauce
1 clove garlic, chopped
2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 c. onion, chopped
1 tsp. chili powder
4 slices bacon, cut in 1 inch pieces
2 tbsp. vinegar

Add additional water if it cooks low; stir occasionally and cook until beans are tender.
