BEST EVER CHERRY CAKE 
1/4 lb. butter
1/4 c. Crisco
3 eggs
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour, sifted
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 lg. can pie cherries

Cream butter with Crisco. Add eggs one at a time along with 1 cup sugar and vanilla. Sift and add gradually 2 cups flour and baking powder.

Grease and flour 9 x 13 inch pan. Pour half of cake mixture into pan. Pour pie cherries over cake batter. Then spread remaining cake batter over the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Cool. Top with powdered sugar or whipped cream.

NOTE: Any pie filling may be substituted.
