HONEY WHEAT GERM BREAD | |
2 env. yeast 1 c. very warm water 2 c. buttermilk 1/2 c. butter 1/4 c. honey 1 tbsp. salt 1/2 c. instant potatoes 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 c. plain wheat germ 7-8 c. flour, white 1. Sprinkle yeast over water. 2. Heat buttermilk, salt, butter and honey together. Stir in potato flakes. Combine with yeast. 3. Stir in soda, wheat germ and 3 cups flour. Add rest of flour. 4. Knead. Place in greased bowl. Let raise until double, 1 to 1 1/2 hours. 5. Punch down, let rest 10 minutes. 6. Shape into 2 loaves (large). Place in pans and let arise. 7. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. |
