3 c. sugar 1/2 c. Karo syrup, white 1/2 c. hot water 3 egg whites 1 tsp. vanilla Pecans or walnuts, if desired Needs to be made on a dry or low humidity day. Beat egg whites until VERY stiff and dry. Boil sugar, Karo syrup and hot water to soft ball stage. Pour 1/2 of sugar mixture over egg whites and beat. Return pan to stove and boil remaining mixture to hard crack stage and pour this over egg mixture in bowl. Beat until hardens, add vanilla and nuts. Drop onto waxed paper to set. |
