APPLE SPICE BARS | |
Cream 1/3 cup shortening and 3/4 cup sugar. Add 2 eggs; beat well. Stir together 3/4 cup all purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger. Blend into creamed mixture; mix well. Stir in 1 cup finely chopped peeled apple. Spread in greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan. Sprinkle a mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool; cut into bars. Makes 36. |
