SWEET AND SOUR KRAUT CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. cocoa powder
1 (8 oz.) can (1 c.) sour kraut (drained, rinsed, finely chopped)
1 c. water

In large mixing bowl, cream butter, and sugar (until light). Beat in eggs (one at a time), add vanilla.

Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt, cocoa, add to cream mixture alternately with water. Beating after each addition. Stir in kraut. Turn into greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Icing.
