HOLIDAY PUMPKIN BREAD 
1/3 c. vegetable shortening
1/2 c. molasses
1 c. sugar
1 c. canned pumpkin
2 eggs
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts, coarsely chopped
2 tsp. pumpkin pie spices

Cream shortening and stir in sugar and eggs. Stir in molasses and pumpkin. Stir in remaining ingredients. Beat until well blended. Pour mixture into a well greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Arrange 6 whole half nuts on top of loaf as extra decoration.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until done. Unmold and cool. Cut in thin slices; spread with butter or cream cheese.
