SHREDDED WHEAT BREAD
1/4 c. shredded wheat biscuits
1/4 c. grape nuts (cereal)
1/2 c. molasses
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 c. boiling water
2 c. scalded milk
2 pkgs. dry yeast
8 c. white flour

In a large pan combine shredded wheat biscuit (crumbled), grape nuts, molasses, shortening, brown sugar and salt. Stir in boiling water. Let stand 10 minutes. Allow scalded milk to cool to lukewarm and stir in yeast until dissolved. Stir milk-yeast into shredded wheat mixture. Gradually add flour until dough becomes stiff.

Place on floured surface and knead 8-10 minutes. Place in greased bowl in a warm location and let rise until double in bulk. Punch down and shape into three loaves. Place in greased 9x5 loaf pans and let rise to tops of pans. Bake in moderate (350 degree) oven 35-40 minutes.

NOTE: This is one of my Mother's well used recipes. Tasted so good warm from the oven!
