SWEDISH TEA RING | |
1 pkg. active dry yeast 1/2 c. warm water 1 egg 1 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. cinnamon 2 1/2 c. Bisquick mix 2 tbsp. soft butter 1/3 c. brown sugar, packed 1/3 c. each raisins and walnuts In large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in egg, sugar, and Bisquick. Beat vigorously. Turn dough onto floured surface. Knead until smooth, about 20 times. Roll into rectangle (16 x 9 inch). Spread with butter and sprinkle with brown sugar, raisins, walnuts, and cinnamon. Roll up, beginning at wide side. Pinch edge of dough into roll to seal. With seam side down, shape dough into ring on greased baking sheet and pinch ends together. With scissors, make cuts 2/3 of the way through ring at 1 inch intervals. Turn each section on its side. Let rise in warm place for about 1 hour. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. While still warm, frost. QUICK ICING: 1 c. powdered sugar 1 to 2 tsp. warm water 1/2 tsp. vanilla Quick Frosting: Mix sugar, water, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over tea ring. Serve warm. |
