COFFEE CAKE MUFFINS 
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
Spicy Nuts (below)

Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Blend egg and milk, add all at once to flour mixture. Stir until moistened. Alternate layers of batter and Spicy Nuts in greased muffin pans, filling 2/3 full. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.

SPICY NUTS:

1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
2 tbsp. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. melted butter

Combine all ingredients.
