1 c. flour
2/3 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. shortening
1 c. molasses
3/4 c. boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda
1 egg

Combine soda and boiling water. Combine molasses, egg and soda water. Pour into a 9 inch pie crust. Mix flour, brown sugar and shortening. Sprinkle on top and bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 30 more minutes or until done.
