SHOOFLY PIE 
1 c. boiling water
1/2 c. dark molasses
1/2 c. light corn syrup
1 lg. egg, lightly beaten
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Thoroughly combine water, molasses, syrup, egg, and soda. Let stand about 15 minutes. 1 1/2 c. flour 1/4 c. shortening 3 tbsp. sugar 3 tbsp. brown sugar 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 1/8 tsp. ground cloves

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine above ingredients and stir with fork until crumbly. Stir 1/2 of the crumbs into molasses mixture. Spoon mixture into pie shell. Cover with remaining crumbs. Bake 45 to 50 minutes. Serve warm or let cool to room temperature.
