CORNMEAL BISCUITS 
1 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. cornmeal
1/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. milk

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Blend in cornmeal. Cut in shortening. Add milk all at once. Stir lightly with fork, just enough to moisten all flour. Knead gently, about 1/2 minute on board. Roll 3/4" thick. Cut with 2" cutter, place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
