SAUERKRAUT SOUP 
1 1/2 lb. ground chuck
1 egg
1/2 c. bread crumbs
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (10 1/2 oz.) can beef broth (undiluted)
1 (14 oz.) can sauerkraut
1 (12 oz.) can tomatoes
2 c. water
1 env. dry onion soup mix
1 c. sliced carrots
1/2 c. diced celery
2 c. cubed potatoes
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 bay leaf
1 tbsp. sugar

Mix together ground chuck, egg, bread crumbs, salt. Make tiny meatballs. Brown and set aside. Cook remaining ingredients about 30 minutes; add meatballs and simmer.
