POLLY'S SPAGHETTI SAUCE 
2 lbs. hamburger meat
1 onion, chopped
1/2 c. sweet pepper, chopped
8 oz. can tomato sauce + 1 can water
2 cans tomatoes (or 1 qt.)
1 tsp. salt
Black pepper to taste
3 tbsp. Italian seasoning
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. Crisco oil
2 or 3 bay leaves
2 cloves garlic
1 can sliced mushrooms and juice
Shredded cheddar cheese
8 oz. pkg. long thin spaghetti

Saute onion and pepper in oil about 5 minutes. Add meat and cook until all red disappears; drain. Add tomato sauce and tomatoes, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, sugar, bay leaves, garlic, mushrooms and juice. Simmer at least 1 hour or longer if possible. It is better to simmer very slowly until most of the juice cooks out.

Cook spaghetti until tender; rinse and drain. Put spaghetti on plate; put cheese on the spaghetti, then the sauce. Serves 4-6. Serve with garlic bread and green salad.
