CHICKEN FRIED STEAK 
6 pieces round steak
1 egg
1/3 c. milk
1 c. shortening
2/3 c. flour
1/8 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
Salt for meat & pepper for meat

Cut up steak. Trim off all fat. Pound the steak to get it tender. Lightly sprinkle steak with salt and pepper. Beat egg and milk in one bowl and flour, salt and pepper in another bowl. Put shortening in skillet and heat. Shortening should be very warm, not hot.

While shortening is getting ready, dip a piece of steak in flour, then egg mixture and back in flour. Do this to all the pieces. Only put enough steak in the skillet so the pieces don't touch. Cook on medium high heat. Cook steak on one side, turn and cook on other side uncovered, about 10 minutes. Repeat until all meat is done. Drain on paper towel.
