CHOCOLATE CHIP TREATS 
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 (13 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips (2 c.)
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Ice cream, vanilla

In small bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt; set aside. In large bowl, combine butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla; beat until creamy. Beat in eggs. Gradually add flour mixture; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by rounded measuring tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Press dough into about 2-inch circles. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool completely.

Spread 2 to 3 measuring tablespoons ice cream onto bottom of one cookie. Top with another cookie. Wrap each sandwich in foil or plastic wrap. Freeze until ready to serve. Makes 21 (3 inch) ice cream sandwiches.
