ONION BACON BREAD 
3/4 c. finely chopped Sweet Spanish onion
1/2 c. diced bacon
1 clove garlic, minced
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1 c. warm milk
2 tbsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
4 to 4 1/2 c. unsifted flour

Combine onion, bacon and garlic in skillet and saute until golden. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add milk, sugar, salt and 2 cups flour. Beat until well blended. Stir in undrained onion, bacon and garlic. Add enough additional flour to make a soft dough. Knead well and let rise in warm place until doubled. Punch down and shape into loaf. Place in greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan. Cover and let rise about 1 hour or until doubled in bulk. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes or until done. Makes 1 (9-inch) loaf.
