CHESS PIE OR TARTS 
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
4 tbsp. cold water
1 tbsp. flour
1/4 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter thoroughly with sugar and flour. Add eggs which have been beaten. Add water and vanilla (if you desire some lemon flavor, you might use 1/2 teaspoon of both lemon and vanilla flavor). Mix well. Fill pie pan or tart shells with pastry. Pour mixture into unbaked pastry. Bake for 30 minutes or until done in 350 degree oven.
