BREAD PUDDING | |
5 slices white bread 1/4 c. soft butter 1/2 c. raisins 1 tsp. cinnamon 3 c. milk 2/3 c. sugar 4 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly butter a 12 x 8 x 2 inch baking dish. Trim crusts from bread and spread generously with butter. Cut each slice into 4 squares. Sprinkle raisins over bottom of prepared dish. Arrange squares, buttered side up over raisins. Sprinkle with cinnamon. In a saucepan heat milk just until bubbles form around edge of pan. Remove from heat; add sugar and stir until dissolved. Beat eggs in a large bowl. Gradually stir in hot milk mixture. Stir in vanilla and pour over bread. Set dish in a pan of hot water; bake 40-50 minutes, or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Remove pudding from water and cool at least 10 minutes before serving. Makes 8 servings. |
