RYE BREAD 
4 tbsp. dark molasses
5 tbsp. sugar
2 c. warm water
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. flat dry yeast
1 tbsp. shortening, melted
6 c. flour (approximately)

Mix yeast with a small amount of water. Combine more water with molasses, sugar, salt and shortening. Add the flour last and knead well. Let rise 1 hour until double in bulk, punch down and let rise again. Shape into 3 loaves, put in 9 x 13-inch pan and let rise again. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
