RUTABAGA & APPLE WHIP 
4 lb. rutabagas (white turnip), peeled & diced
4 med. tart apples, peeled, cored & quartered
6 tbsp. butter, at room temperature
4 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. ground cardamom

Cover rutabaga with boiling salted water and simmer covered for 15 minutes or until tender. Add apples and continue cooking until apples are tender. Drain if necessary.

Mash rutabaga and apples together. Stir in butter and sugar. Season with salt, pepper, and cardamom. Whip until fluffy. Serve with pork, ham or poultry.
