JAN HAGEL COOKIES (DUTCH) 
1 c. soft butter
1 egg yolk
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 egg white
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. pecans, finely chopped

Cream butter; add sugar, egg yolk and vanilla; beat well. Add flour, cinnamon and soda which have been sifted together several times. Place mixture in a greased 11 x 16 inch pan and flatten with wet hands. Then cover with waxed paper and place another pan over it. Press flat. Brush top with egg white; sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 325 degrees 35 to 40 minutes. Cut into squares when cool.

I had to make a double of this recipe for the size of pan recommended. I also sprinkled the spices on top of the egg wash & almonds. I'm sure it would be good in the dough, my family just always sprinkled it on top.
