SPLIT PEA SOUP 
1 lb.. dry split peas
1/2 lb. diced ham
1 c. diced celery
1 c. diced carrots
1 c. diced potatoes
1 chicken bouillon cube
1/4 tsp. thyme
Salt & pepper

Soak peas overnight, drain. Add 2 quarts water. Bring to boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 1 1/2 hours. Add ham, vegetables and seasoning. Cook over low heat for 30 minutes.
