NACHO PLATES (FOR FOUR) 
1 lb. hamburger (optional)
1 lg. can refried beans
1/2 lb. cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 head lettuce, shredded
Salsa or picante sauce
Round tortilla chips

If using hamburger, brown it and drain off fat. Add salsa to beans (amount according to taste). Also add enough water to make stirring consistency. Heat beans and place one serving on an oven-proof dish. Surround beans with tortilla chips. Sprinkle meat, if desired, and cheese over beans. Heat in moderate oven until cheese melts. Top with lots of shredded lettuce. Tomatoes, sour cream, salsa, or guacamole may be added as desired. To eat, use the chips as a scooper.
