CHOCOLATE INTRIGUE CAKE 
3 c. plain flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
3/4 c. chocolate syrup
1/4 tsp. baking soda

Sift flour with baking powder and salt. Cream butter, gradually add sugar until light. Add eggs. Add vanilla to milk. At low speed, add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk.

Pour 2/3 of batter into pan. Into remaining batter, blend chocolate syrup and soda. Pour over first batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 65 or 70 minutes. Cool completely before inverting.

May be iced with preferably chocolate frosting.
