WALNUT CRESCENTS (KURABIES) 
1 lb. unsalted butter
2 tbsp. sugar
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla or brandy
1 1/2 c. walnuts or pecans, chopped finely
5 1/2 c. flour, sifted
2 tsp. baking powder

Mix butter until creamy. Add sugar, egg yolk and flavoring to butter mixture. Stir well. Add dry ingredients. Mix well by hand. Add nuts. Dough should be easy to handle. If needed add more flour. Taking about 1 tablespoon of dough at a time roll into crescents or cut with cookie cutters.

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 20 minutes at 350 degrees. When cool, roll in powdered sugar.

Makes 5 1/2 dozen.
