ONION RINGS 
Soak ringed onions in mixture of half milk and half water for at least 30 minutes.

BATTER:

1 1/3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tbsp. Crisco oil
2 beaten egg yolks
3/4 c. water
2 stiffly beaten egg whites

Mix all but egg whites; fold whites in last. Dip onion rings in batter and fry in deep fat at 350 to 375 degrees. Serves 6.
