APPLE FRITTERS 
FRITTER BATTER:

1 1/3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
2/3 c. milk
2 tbsp. powdered sugar (for sweet fritters only)

Sift dry ingredients, add egg, well beaten and milk. The batter should be thick enough to coat article intended to cover. If too thin, add flour; if too thick, add liquid.

Core, peel and slice apples. Dip into batter, being careful to cover completely. Place into deep hot fat and fry 2 or 3 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

FOR PEACHES: Peel, split in half, remove pit before dipping in batter. Sprinkle powdered sugar over them.

FOR BANANAS: Peel, cut in halves and split each half; place piece sin bowl with 2 tablespoons sugar, 3 tablespoons orange juice. Let stand 1 hour, drain, then dip and fry.
