This is such an awesome cake! I was looking for this exact recipe. My late Mom made this for holidays or work pot lucks. Everyone loved it. I want to make it for her Grandson's/my Son's Fire Station to enjoy. This cake is the best!

My Mom made this cake on a regular basis for years. It is a family favorite that everyone enjoyed, from the grandkids, to adults having cake with their coffee. Mom made hers in a greased, floured Bundt pan. It makes it so easy and came out perfect almost everytime. Do adjust the cooking time if you decide to try the Bundt pan method. Do to oven differences, it may need to cook anywhere from 45 mins to an hour or so. I'm pretty sure Mom cooked hers right at an hour. This recipe will forever be a keeper in our family! It's amazing and holds a lot of good memories of our Mom.

Love this cake. Doubled it this time to make 4 layers. But my layers always come out thin. It starts to brown and pull away from the side of the cake pan before I take it out, but I'm wondering if I'm taking it out of the oven too soon???? I don't want it to be dry. Any comments?

I make this cake just as the recipe says and it always gets tons of compliments. It is so moist with the perfect amount of frosting. Always a winner!

Been making this cake for years and is a family favorite. I've changed up the icing because the sugar, butter, and strawberry was too sugary. I use cream cheese, strawberries and powdered sugar..awesome! Also, used sweetened peaches and peach jello instead of strawberries. Another nice change.

This cake is a family favorite. I stumbled on to it on accident but it has gotten rave reviews every time I make it. I do put cool whip on the top after the cake is completely cooled down to make it even better.
