APPLE BROWN BETTY 
1/4 c. butter
3 c. biscuit crumbs
10 med. cooking apples (cored & sliced)
1 c. water
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. butter

Melt 1/4 cup butter in a large skillet, over medium heat. Add biscuit crumbs and continue to cook, stirring constantly, until browned. Set aside.

Place apples in large Dutch oven with water and bring to boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer until apples are tender; drain. Mash apples until pulpy; stir in sugar and cinnamon. Alternate layers of apple mixture and biscuit crumbs in 9 inch square baking dish, beginning with apple mixture and ending with crumbs. Dot with 2 tablespoons butter and sprinkle with brown sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Serve hot. Yield 8 servings.
