2 lbs. ground beef 1/2 c. chopped onion 1 (15 1/2 oz.) jar spaghetti sauce 2 cans tomato sauce 3 c. water 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. garlic salt 1/2 tsp. baking soda 2 tbsp. sugar 1 bay leaf 9 lasagne noodles 1 (16 oz.) pkg. Mozzarella cheese, sliced 1/4 c. Parmesan cheese Brown meat and onion, stirring constantly until meat mixture is crumbly. Remove excess grease. Add next 8 ingredients and stir well. Simmer one hour, covered and stirring occasionally. Remove bay leaf when sauce is finished. Cook noodles as directions on box. Grease 9x13 pan. Cover bottom of pan with 3 noodles. Cover noodles with 1/3 of the meat, Mozzarella and cheese strips. Repeat 2 more layers of noodles, sauce, cheese and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake uncovered in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Makes 6-8 servings. |
