MERINGUE COOKIES 
2 egg whites
1/8 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. sugar
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips (optional)
1/4 c. nuts (optional)

Beat egg whites, salt, cream of tartar, and vanilla until soft peaks form. Add sugar a little at a time until stiff peaks form. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts.

Drop by teaspoonfuls on cookie sheet covered with brown paper (can use brown grocery sack). Bake 25 minutes at 300 degrees.
