YEAST NUT BREAD 
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. Crisco
1 c. warm water
1 env. dry yeast
5 3/4 c. flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. ground nuts or fruit

Proof yeast and water with a sprinkle of flour or sugar. Mix buttermilk, sugar and Crisco and scald in microwave. Mix yeast water and buttermilk in a large bowl with 1/2 the flour and soda. Mix well with a mixer. Mix the rest of the flour and nuts by hand and knead well. Let rise with a pan of boiling water and the oven light turned on until doubled in bulk. Place in loaf pans sprayed with Pam and let rise again. Bake at 325 degrees until brown.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
