HOT, SWEET AND SPICY WASSAIL | |
1 qt. water 1 1/3 c. sugar 1/2 gal. unsweetened apple juice 2 c. lemon juice 8 allspice berries 24 cloves 4 cinnamon sticks 3 c. orange juice Brandy (optional) Combine the water, sugar and spices in a large stainless steel stock pot. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to low. Barely simmer liquid for 2 hours. Add the apple juice, lemon and orange juice; bring to a boil. Serve from the pot, which is kept warm on the stove or warming tray. Place a small carafe of brandy beside the punch for those who want to spike their drink. Good for holiday entertaining and warming add skiers. |
