GRANDMA'S MOLASSES COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Dash of ginger
Flour

Cream shortening; add sugar and eggs. Beat until creamy. Put soda into sour milk and stir until frothy. Add to sugar mixture. Add vanilla and ginger. Add 1 cup of flour with salt. Add flour until dough is stiff enough to roll. Roll out 1/4 inch thick and cut with cookie cutter. Makes 6 to 7 dozen cookies.
