CHERRY BREAD 
1 c. pitted, canned red cherries, well drained and chopped
1 tbsp. lemon juice

Put together and let stand while preparing batter.

1/4 c. shortening
2/3 c. granulated sugar

Cream together until fluffy.

1 lg. egg

Beat until well blended.

2 1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder

1/2 c. milk

Stir until smooth. then blend in chopped cherries. Place batter in a greased, floured 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes. Let stand overnight before slicing.
