MOLASSES CRISP COOKIES | |
1 c. molasses 1/2 lb. butter 1/4 c. hot water 2 tsp. baking soda 1 c. sugar 4 c. flour 2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. ginger 1/2 tsp. cloves 1/2 tsp. allspice 2 tsp. cinnamon Bring molasses to boil; remove from stove and melt butter in it. Put sugar in mixing bowl. Add soda to hot water. Add to molasses over sugar in bowl; it will froth over. Mix well. Sift and add flour, salt, and spices; mix well. Put in loaf pan lined with waxed paper and refrigerate overnight. Cut dough thin and bake at 325 degrees for 12-14 minutes on well greased pan. Remove from pan immediately. Dough can be frozen and used when needed; no need to thaw before cutting. |
