SOFT SUGAR COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sweet milk
1 egg
3/4 tsp. vanilla
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cream of tartar
Scant 1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. flour

Cookies may be dropped but better if rolled 1/4 inch thick and cut. Bake at 350 degrees until delicately brown.
