LEMON MERINGUE SQUARES 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. powdered sugar
2 egg yolks
1 c. all purpose flour, sifted
2 tsp. lemon rind grated
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter; add sugar together. Add egg yolks and blend. Mix in flour grated rind and salt. Spread into an ungreased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. (Preheated oven.)

TOPPING:

2 egg whites
1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. lemon rind
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Beat egg whites, until stiff. Gradually add sugar and lemon juice. Fold in nuts spread over hot, partially baked batter. Continue baking at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool, cut into squares. Serves 8.
