4 envelopes unflavored gelatin 1 c. cold water 4 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 c. hot water 1 tsp. cinnamon extract 1/2 tsp. peppermint extract Green and red food coloring. Soften gelatin in cold water. Bring sugar, salt and hot water to boiling point. Add gelatin, then simmer for 15 minutes. Divide into two portions. To one add red coloring and cinnamon. To the other, add green coloring and peppermint extract. Strain into pans about 8 x 4 inch (which have been dipped into cold water) and chill until firm. When cold, place on board lightly covered with powdered sugar. Cut into cubes with sharp knife and roll in powdered sugar. |
